  • There are many differences between the clothing of Royalty and Priests compared to that of the average people.

  • All clothing of the Aztec society was generally loose fitting with the main differences in clothing being the decoration of lack thereof and fabric.

  • Only the upper class was allowed to wear Cotton clothing, with the commoners restricted to wearing mostly ayate fibre which was from the Maguey Cactus.

  • They also were allowed to wear yucca or palm fibres however these were not as common as they ayate fibre.

Hypothesis- The symbols and decorations on the clothing and headdresses of the upper class of the Aztec Society (Royalty and Priests) represented the power, influence and control they had over their people.
