Aztec Clothing
WELCOME
The Aztec empire was one of the most powerful empires in Mexico to ever exist. It covered large amounts of land and had an extremely vast trading network. The Mexica were originally nomads until they settled into what soon became known as the Aztec Empire. As their power grew with various different leaders, their land grew until they ruled most of Mexico with an iron fist. The Aztec's great military skills and combat allowed them to gain much of the land around them.
Once the empire was at its height and settled, people began to form routine as the empire set up. Clothing was an important part of this day to day life for every member of the the Aztec Society and certain rules and regulations made sure that it was easy to tell the elite citizens of the empire from the commoners. Certain fabrics, styles and decorations were reserved for only the most important members of society and anyone found wearing the incorrect attire for their social status could be punished with death.
The empire's end came in 1519 when the Spanish conquered the Aztecs. One of the world's largest ancient civilisations would become history just a few years later.
